[RE-wrenches] solar panel warranty exclusion for salt water spray

Aloha all, Does anyone know of a module manufacturer who does NOT have a warranty exclusion when it comes to placing modules in the vicinity of the ocean and salt water spray? Mahalo, marco ___ List sponsored by Redwood Alliance Pay optional member dues

Hey Mac, If you have rails beneath the module wouldn't it be easier to mount an inverter there with a bolt that fastens to rail? William's solution looks great, but I thought to ask because this would be cheaper and easier to wire. Have a great day everyone 🌞 James B. Rudolph Independent Energ

Is this a warranty issue? If so, the manufacturer should be supplying a new microinverter as well. We had a little "experiment" with Qcell AC modules. A couple dozen contracts and our guys hate them. The wire management is a nightmare for the Q cable, and The module manufacturer didn't do us any f

Its actually the alumium flange that is typically tapped into the microinverter plastic housing that I'm after (the part that is attached to the rail during installation). In this case, the micros were in held a plastic bracket that was glued onto the module backsheet and so the standard mounting

The customer has already had the utility come out to take a look. He says they had him turn off the solar, and then they measured 246V at the transformer and then said it's not their problem. He was going to try to get them back out to check the connections at the transformer and the meter. Also, t

Wrenches, Dave I have had this issue, first turn off everything, check static voltage, this will drive everything else. If the static is 240 L-L look at the utility side you might have small conductors, you might also have a transformer size issue bottlenecking the current. Next turn loads more th

I’ve run into a similar issue, and the problem was on the utilities side. They had shut down the local substation for repairs and were pumping power in from the next town over. To push the power that far, they increased the line voltage, which was causing issues with the PV inverter. I’d sugges

Hello Wrenches, We are in the middle of planning for a full solar panel replacement at a house with AC modules. It was a Solaria 355 with an Enphase IQ7+. Solaria is going to replace the modules with a standard module, not an AC module (MC4 cabling not an Q Cable to J-box). This seems OK but th

Hi Dave, Where is the utility voltage being measured? I might suggest doing point to point voltage calculations based on the true wire size and then verifying with measurement. It's great to use an IR camera to look for hot spots. Do this when the problem is the worst. Is it symmetric with
