BJECT: [RE-wrenches] DC-DC converter

Hi Wrenches,

There used to be a product that changed battery strings from parallel to
series to boost voltage, l know the patent holder, let me ask if it can
work here that is if there are enough's batteries.

Wrenches,
Thanks, all, for your responses. This recently retired ER Doc customer does
have an inverter system (old SW’s, one not so good on the scope). Grid and also
two generators, Wanted a DC solution also. I like the Grundfos pumps so far,
not their opinion to double the battery bank so
The customer needs education! The SQ should be powered from 240vac and
the CU can run a generator input if needed. AC power should be designed so
that it never goes away offgrid in my opinion. There should be a water tank
that can give time to make repairs.

let me make a stupid suggestion, why not dedicate an inverter? Ask
Grundfos if modified sine wave would be OK or use something like the
Outback FXR sine wave inverter or the Magnum, or the Schneider.SW4024.

HI Gary,
The customer is always right, ha.
If they want a DC option, I know you can find the right part.
As to how big of a DC DC converter, yea I would want it to handle whatever the
pump could draw. If there is any way that a valve could be closed or a pipe
frozen or clogged, the pump will

I agree that an inverter is your most viable voltage converter. There is
no good reason to go DC to DC that I can see. The other option would be
to switch the array to operate the pump directly. Use a Charge
controller that operates the array at the same voltage the pump needs to
operate at,
Is there an inverter, you could power it with 120 or 240V AC?
