Hi Wrenches,
I've been looking for a distributor for the Generac Ecogen. The ones I
contacted are about $300 higher than paying retail at Lowes. Is there a
supplier that sells wholesale or discounts to dealers?
Off list answer is fine.
Thank you,

I personally like AND use the ONAN (CMM) commercial mobil units. Can be
configured 120 VAC @50 A. Fiberglass enclosure, QUITE 2800 RPM. Unlike the eco
gen you DO have to mount on a stand as the intake & exhaust is from the bottom.
Using an OB inverter I use the Atikson start module. I use a rel

John,
If I understand correctly what was explained to me by Generac, the
research wasn't government-funded. The Propane Education and
Research Council is an industry trade group. I was curious,
though, so checked into it on its website:

Dave,
I have sold 8 Eco-Gens so far and first impressions are great. I wasn't
aware of the govt funded research but it makes sense. I have one installed on
top of Herrick Mtn doing an average of 4 hours a day backing up a transmitter
site. This winter will be the test. So far we have alm
Ditto Chris's comment. The EcoGen was
designed by Generac with research funded by the Propane Council
from the ground-up as an off-grid propane-only generator used to
charge batteries.

Dave,
Coleman discontinued their appropriate models years ago, and
Kohler's smaller units will work but are designed more for grid
backup. My best recommendation is Generac's 6kW EcoGen unit.

Generac Ecogen is your best choice. It was specifically designed for the
long runs associated with charing batteries for off-grid work.

Wrenchsters,
Looking for a good quality, long lasting, LP gas genset for my off grid
rental house. 6 to 8kW. Full power at 120Vac would be nice. In the past some
have recommended a Coleman off grid model as I remember. I'm also wondering
how the smaller Kohlers, and the like, have been holding
