problem sending messages to other mailing lists.

I joined this list using PMMAIL on my OS/2 partition and have
no problems posting messages to the list from it. However,
when I shift to my Linux (RH 6.0) partition and send a message
using Netscape, for some reason it does not get posted. This
happened several times. I know the message is going o
Hi there,
I've got a HP LaserJet 1100. It works fine with RH5.2
but I can't get it to work with RH6.1. When I run
print-tool in 5.2 it gets auto-detected at /dev/lp1.
On 6.1 the autodetect doesn't find anything. I tried to
set up the printer anyway but stuff sent to the spool

I am using RH 6.0 and Netscape 4.5. I have no problem
reading Japanese Web pages and e-mail but, when I try to
print them, the Japanese comes out as garbage. I have
my fonts set to a JIS font and the character set default
to Japanese Auto Detect. The same setup in OS/2 works
with no problem. Actua

Hi all
I get the following message periodically when I print
parport0:detected irq 7; use procfs to enable interupt driven operation
The pages print fine but having this show up on the screen
in a middle of a running program is not exactly wonderful.
Any ideas?
Also I found the print filter progra
Hello,
Currently
Redhat 6 works prefectly without the X windows option or KDE option during
the installation and for the past 4 days it hasnt crashed.
Now I believe I have to configure X windows to work with KDE mannually like
I did with Freebsd and fvwm95.
Question:-
How do I configure KDE
because I've done it before and it works fine. I then enjoy the benefits
of rpm.

Hi
Are you sure you pluged it in to the right connector I once
spent a half an hour messing only to discover it was plugged
in to the wrong side.

Hi
I finally got the support page to work today I think they have finally got
if fixed. Atleast it said it was submitted.

php3/myql/apache works well on Freebsd. But if you wanted to use Redhat.
Why do you have to use rpms when you can get the gz files from the php3.net
and myql.org and apache.org and install them mannually from the source?

I have a US Robotics 56K internal modem on an AMD K6-3 box. When trying

I notice that if I have my phone off the hook - such that I can hear the

I ran into a similar problem when trying to compile October gnome from the

the packages that it claimed it was dependent on were installed. Finally I
Yep. Same problem here. Worked fine under 6.0, can't find anything on
the parallel port on 6.1.
And I'm glad to hear RH is aware of the problem.
Am having similar problems with sound card (Creative AWE64 16 bit audio
SB16) which was happily recognized by sndconfig under 6.0 and seems to

Hi !
Sorry that i cannot help you solving your prob, but cxi printers from HP
are not always winprinters. I have the HP DJ 895Cxi that runs smoothly with
Linux and even prints out the ps-tiger in colours when i set the printer up
as a HP DJ 5xx colour printer. I dunno exactly about the HP

I figured it out, it was easier than I thought, I just put the install CD
back in and did an upgrade and ticked off everything so that
nothing got upgraded, it found the ncr53c8xx driver and replaced
the adaptec one, now with hdparm -t /dev/sda I get 7.?? instead of
1.?? and 0.9? :)

Hi-
On a new installation of RedHat 6.1, the logs show this message:

Is this something I should be concerned about?
Thanks,

What kind of controllers are they? What chipsets do they use?
Do you have the SCSI support for them in your kernel or loaded as modules?

All,
Yesterday I posted about an issue I was having with RH 6.1 when I was trying
to upgrade from 6.0, and I finally figured out the problem! As I said, I
had both the new boot disk plus the updates disk, but I was making the
mistake of having the CD in the CD-ROM drive when I would boot from t
All,
Alrighty, I finally I was able to upgrade from RH 6.0 to 6.1 and I will
explain how I did that on another posting to the list, but now I am having an
issue with PPP. In anycase, it seems like my problem has to do with DNS,
although who knows what it can be. I must say that I have had
