printing to conflicts with your real host name. Your local host should have
the alias "localhost" in the network config. If you changed it from
"localhost" to "buddy," a lot of programs will barf.

I haven't rebooted in a while so after a good backup I rebooted one of
my 6.0 (with all updates) boxes. To my dismay I found that only the
first couple (of about 10) secondary ethernet interfaces came up.
When I go to /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts and manually start them
by:
ifup ifcfg-eth0:7
If you run top on your system you should see that updatedb is running. This
happens with IDE drives as well. AFAIK it helps you to find files quicker
when you do searches. I am not certain though.
I am pretty sure that is what you're seeing... because that does do a lot of
drive work.
