Try to change your ethernet card. It worked for me. Strange think. On
RedHat 7.3 I had normal half-duplex-card connected to the modem.

Well, CDR's are read-only once initial
I think you'll have better luck using tar.
tar zcvf /var/tmp/user.cd /home/usr
Then dump the tar in an iso and burn that to the cd.
