I can't mount floppies or cdrom now - It suddenly stopped working, after years
of no problems. As root, I type:
mount /dev/cdrom /mnt
or
mount /dev/fd0 /mnt
When I do that, I hear my floppy clicking, or my cdrom noise if I'm trying to
mount that, but then "mount" freezes up and I have to X out o
How do I get the Flash Player for Netscape 4.77 hooked up? I don't
particularly want it, but so many webpages call for it, that I guess I'll cave
in and get it installed.
Thanks,
Chip.

Hopefully this isn't too off topic, but my portsentry logs show that
I've been hit repeatedly by the following dns number this week:
211.119.248.38
I've tried using dns lookup via webpages that offer it, but always get
back "no results for this nameserver value." Am I missing something in
trying
.conf file and putting a new one in with
correct permissions, but no cigar.
Help IS appreciated!

Secure Deletion will allow you to overwrite/wipe the free space on your drive -
it has different settings, clear up to "paranoid." "Wipe" is a good utility
for deleting and overwriting individual files, etc.

Hi,
Can someone tell me why my fetchmail won't work anymore all of a
sudden? It worked fine until recently - I don't know what's changed!.
I'm getting a 451 SMTP error - mail doesn't get to my mailbox anymore -
I can't understand the stuff I've read on the net about this 451 SMTP

Thanks for any help!
Which window manager is rated as the most stable?
I like Blackbox because it's fast and seems a lot more stable than KDE.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks,
Chip Rose.

there used to be www.freewwweb.com, and it was totally awesome for
linux, but they just went bankrupt and out of business.

Amazing.
They were just campaigning to sell a bunch of those banner ads for many
thousands of dollars. I wondered who on earth would have the dough to
advertise at that level, and now this. I hope some poor saps haven't
lost their money due to the "sudden" bankruptcy - if so, they're up the

Ripping or encoding mp3's from CD consistently locks up my Linux
system. Whenever using the RipperX app (frontend for ripper/encoder
apps), or when using a bladeenc, lame, or cdparanoia app alone from the
command line, in X or straight from console without X running, the
entire system freezes. U
