Okay, first do you have any firewalls setup? Did you choose any type of
security settings upon install? Also, are there any DNS entries out
there for you? For instance, if you ping you server by
name.yourdomain.com can it be seen outside your LAN? Where is your name
record registered? Is there a DN
Grep your /var/log/messages file for instances of wireless or the like.
It may be that you box sees it you just don't have it configured.

What model Thinkpad do you have? My first RH8 install on a Dell didn't
seem to find it but my Toshiba did. When you unplug it and plug it back
in does RH send a familiar "beep?" If so, immediately check your
/var/log/messages file, shift-g to the end and see if it gives you any
info.
