ve the problem with rpm can be fixed with a 1 line entry in
/etc/rpmrc that maps the new-fangled Cyrix identifier back onto
good old i386 architecture.
There was a posting on the rpm-list about a month ago ...

I usually copy /usr/src/linux/.config /etc/.config so that "make mrproper"
doesn't wipe me out.

So its not "an extra 5-10 mins" to include libraries.
The trick is knowing which libs to include in a package, and which to package
separately.
