Based on another post I saw, I just looked at /etc/sysconfig/hwconfig
and find that the floppy is detached?

What does this mean and what can I do about it?

regarding my CDROM CDRW problems. I think maybe I outstayed my welcome
regarding this issue, as no one has replied for a time.
I am able to access these drives with Gnome so I will get by until I
stumble upon an answ
Please disregard the swap activation failure at boot up. I got that
corrected.

that it's the "arch/i386/defconfig" file that's used as the
initial .config file. so the "make xconfig" doesn't technically
fail -- it just uses a non-optimal choice for .config.

ZZ. Who would have guessed. I think that I have successfully added the

I built this PC a week ago and installed Red Hat 8. All was well except
for the floppy drive which I didn't care too much about to begin with.
Yesterday I installed a CDR and the instructions said that it had to be
