The lpd man page seems to indicate that /etc/hosts.equiv and
/etc/hosts.lpd are mandatory files to protect access to printers. In my
default installation of RedHat, however, there are no such files - even
though I could of course create them. Am I i

For some time now, I have been receiving the following message in my
maillog:
Dec 10 06:53:32 thepenguin sendmail[5432]: GAA05431: forward
/home/vicki/.forward.thepenguin: Group writable directory
It makes no sense. Not only is there not a .forwar
I upgraded my Acer Extensa 502T from redhat 5.1 to redhat 6.0, and
now the kernel won't boot. I can boot with a 2.0.34 kernel but not
with the 2.2.5-22 kernel which comes with 6.0. It gets to the APM
and then stops dead. I seem to remember seeing something about APM
problems with some laptops
I recently upgraded my Extensa 502T notebook from 5.1 to 6.0 without
remembering to save my old XF86Config file. [I thought it would get
saved with an rpmsave extension like other config files do] Anyway, I
can't locate the docs which tell what the Vertical Refresh and Horizontal
Sync rates are.
Well I have SDRAM which is 10 nanoseconds and cache is what
5-7 nanoseconds? Not much of a performance hit unless I'm
missing something. I don't know much about this kind of stuff
though, so please feel free to point out any error in judgement.

PLEASE read the Red Hat FAQ, Tips,
have one of these motherboards working. If so, I'll
plug along, trying to iron out the IRQ conflicts (it doesn't see my
mouse on com1 either). If not, it's still under warranty and
returning it is a possibility. Thanks.
