I want to change the font size for the console window as I'm running
1024*728 and the font is just way too small. The WM I'm running for
now (until I figure out how to mount the dos partition that holds all
the KDE Stuff I have :) ) is the one that comes with redhat FVWM I
think it is.

when I start exmh it keeps sending a error message :
BgRegister X server insecure (must use xauth-style authorisation); command
ignored

exmh-bg cannot rendez-vous with UI - exiting.
Usually this is because Tk send is not working.

before firing pppd I had cool menus and I could change focus by clicking the
window body.
after, all menus dissapear (so the only mwm exit is ctrl+alt+backspace)
plus I can only change the window focus by clicking the titlebar
why ?

Now I upgraded to RH 5.0 and I cannot start Motif any more.
It just dumps core.
Is there any upgrade or do I have to buy a newer version ?

There is JDK for Linux
There is Interbase 4.0 for RH4.2 (works fine on 5.0)
It is supposed the above can "communicate" through JDBC
But where is the InterBase JDBC driver ?
I guess I have a problem because the (free) InterBase 4.0 / Linux isn't delivered with

I use to mount a novell server in rc.local
But when I try to ncpumount it by ncpumount (in /etc/rc.d/init.d/halt) I get
the error "you are not allowed to ncpumount" or something. Simply umount
returns error codes.
It is not big trouble since the novell server clears the connection shortly

I have a Digital SMP server with a built in netcard.
It is a 21142/3 chip based card with the last version of the tulip driver
(thanks Donald).
The card activates but cannot comunicate with the network. I can ping to
itself but not from another computer.
Any suggestions ?

My metroX server works smooth, yet the /var/log/Xerrors complains about some
unresolved symbols.
Is this a real error ?
On the other hand, on another computer with a Genius (model 3) serial mouse
metroX seems to conflict with gpm. Though it used to work (at least for one
X session).
The error is

As I remember the RH 4.2 rc.sysinit used to umount /proc to avoid confusing
fsck I think.

In order to use 'netwatch' I need ncurses 4.1 but when I try to install the
ncurses-4.1.i386.rpm it conflicts with files from the ncurses 1.9.9 (RH5
distriburtion). If I --force it fails to remove certain files from

I'm trying to start/stop the postgres database manager with a SysV init
script (RH4.2).
The script (following under - line numbers not included into original)
correctly starts postgres on runlevel 3 but it won't execute in order to
stop it on runlevel 0 and/or 6. The symlinks in /etc/rc.d/rc0.d an

At boot time they are assigned priority of -1 and -2.
