Currently my redhat is use dhcp client, and I need stop the client
and sign
a staitc ip address on this machine.
Is there administrator program I can use?
If not, which file I need to change or create to setup a ip address/
gateway/ ?

usually whenever a client tires to login in to samba...there is a
log file created in /var/logs/log.net-biosname
similarly is there any notification to the server when the client
logs off the session...or client shut down the system.

The concept of a PDC is every machine logs into the domain
controller to get access to n/w resources(file and print sharing).
and in windows if i have a NT or 2000 machine as a domain
controller,every other workstation or a client logs in to DC for n/w
resources.And samba is a server
