very slow ftp and sending mail

Hello all, I am using Redhat 7.2 Linux when ftp down from the server very fast, but when send to server very very slow or quits. same with mail down fast , very slow to server But this was just fine until internal card stopped, I went from t-conx to twisted pair, because t-conx was cut and miss

Hello redhat-list, Someone recently asked why their ftp connection was slow through their firewall. It is most likely due to the ftp server doing a tcp/auth (port 113) back to the destination client. If you are not accepting in and forwarding port 113 from the inside of your firewall

I just set up RH5.0, downloaded the 18MB Netscape RPM file (at 28.8!) on my Win95 system, then tried to ftp it to my Linux box using Ethernet LAN cards. It took just as long on the Ethernet LAN to transfer! (about 3000 bytes/sec). Only two LAN cards on the LAN, total cable length of 10 feet! I w
