help on fixing linux box needed, message above display when boot-up &
freeze there, anybody know why & how to fix it ?

I had the same problem once when either a careless administrator or a
hacker had moved the /dev files somewhere else. You could boot from the
linux floppies and copy the /dev/console file from another machine.

hen I moved the
initrd, conf.modules and kernel (2.0.32) along with the card to the
mailhub.
The SCSI card and tape unit is seen on the mailhub, but after initializing
the SCSI it stops with "unable to open an initial console"
I'm missing something critical. Any suggestions?
