I 'cheat' - the GE IDA controller has one of these built in. In position 1, it's the external controller. Position 2 is the internal one. Position 3 (temporary spring contact) is the manual PTT. I switch the RX audio and the COS in order to get two completely separate paths so there is no crosstalk

On my repeater interfaces, I include a SPDT switch with a center off position in the PTT line. One direction for normal repeater operation, center is off, the other direction is manual transmit. Works great for quick desense testing or disabling the transmitter if I am working on things. Kevin
