the newer radios don't do that anymore.
my alinco does not do that, however i have a friend with an older alinco
that does keep the mic hot.
i don't belive the yaesu's keep the mic hot either.

i should have also added that this is assuming you are a ham and are using ham frequency's.
if you are wanting it for commercial use, than you will have to do a similar setup with commercial equipment.

take the 2 screws out of the front. the face panel will come off,
and is attached by 2 connectors. once the front panel is off, the outer case
should pop right off.
the metal covers inside, will have to be CAREFULLY pried off with a flathead
screwdriver.
