We put up a solar powered repeater about 4 years ago using the Wal Mart marine battery and have already had to replace it.  We went with two golf cart 6 volt batteries in series and are much happier with this arrangement.  They are true deep cycle batteries not designed to start a marine outboar

Chappy, I am not as enthusiastic about the TKR's "excellent" battery backup feature as you are; I would say it is "okay." It is only designed to trickle-charge a backup battery, not recharge it after an extended outage. It may take several days or a week to fully recharge an exhausted battery.
