This is especially limiting for classical music and rap/hip hop ( guest
apearence anyone )

I don't think this is possible.
Are you sure you had it working in 7.6, or was the album tagged
differently? The logic used to display lists in 7.7 hasn't changed
much, if at all from 7.6.
The problem is that because you've assigned an album artist the server
considers the album to be a non-comp
I already tried "List albums by all artists for that album", but it
makes no difference. "Celine Dion" is still not listed in "My Music >
Artists"
Actually, I used to have it working in server version 7.6.x, but I
forgot what combination of settings I used. Or is this somehow broken
in 7.7.1?

Album: Sogno
Title: The Prayer
Album Artist: Andrea Bocelli
Artist: Andrea Bocelli; Celine Dion
However, in LMS 7.7.1, Celine Dion does not show up in "My Music >
Artists"
What do I have to do to have Celine Dion show up in "My Music >
Artists" ?

Yes so it is if you have an album with an artist or of the artist is
featured on a compilation you never notice this bug and the artist will
be available .

I do (well, certainly willie nelson as artistnot sure whether I
have others that have willie nelson as "album artist"

LMS 7.7.1 is clearly indexing the track artists, but these track artists
are NOT showing up in "My Music > Artists". If I do an Artist text
search, they show up in the search results.

I am pretty sure I had it working in 7.6.1. And I did not change the
tagging. I had a classical album where one of the tracks had Artist =
"Yo-Yo Ma; Itzhak Perlman" and the Album Artist = "Yo-Yo Ma". I was
able to have both "Yo-Yo Ma" and "Itzhak Perlman" show up in "My Music

Ok, there is a way.
Add a COMPILATION=0 tag to any albums like this. This takes advantage
of _another_ bug (so will fail some day if/when the other bug is
fixed). When you add COMPILATION=0 to a track with both an ALBUMARTIST
and multiple ARTISTs, those artists do not get track artist roles like

oh yeah. I forgot about this. I actually have mixed feelings. I'm not
sure I really want all the "one off" artists

I was going to suggest that. For a long time, there have been problems with
the DB not updating correctly if tags are changed and the user performs a scan
for new and updated files. e.g. if an album is marked as a compil

I'm going to do a full rescan before looking at problems in the future.
It's a pain to keep doing them whilst you're hunting for the correct
settings though, as they take a while.
I'm careful in mp3tag to only have one set of tags (been there...)
however, I don't know in mp3
