Your tags, your choice! Classical tags are extremely inconsistent across
all the databases / streaming services. Find a style you like and try
and consistently follow it through. You can always tweak afterwards if
you wish.

I'm all for the well tempered approach - keep every semi-step the same

Definitely practice on those before tackling Hyperion's Complete
Schubert Songs (40 discs)!
If you use Material Skin you can name each disc by using the comment tag
of the first track on each disc. Material can show the discs as
collapsed which only shows the disc titles. Very useful for larger

That works now. Thanks. This really is a black art! Now am I brave
enough to try it on Handle's Messiah (3 CDs) and The Monteverdi Vespers

This is an area where dbPoweramp is better than EAC as if you set it up
correctly tracks can be numbered as
1_01 track.FLAC
1_02 track.FLAC
2_01 track.FLAC
etc
If you ensure that the separate discs are tagged 1/2 and 2/2 and
Foobar shows this Metadata.

The disc numbers end 96 and 97 - isn't that to be expected?

Using EAC I ripped a two CD set and declared it was a set specifying
correctly Disc 1 of 2 and Disc 2 of 2 and opting to continue track
numbering straight through. I placed both rips in the same folder and
copied the by Samba to the USB storage on my rPi4. I then rescanned the

which always works, in every app, without fail. But if I did use it, I
would ask Michael to include an option to set MAI to ignore those

Don't know if there are any Mac users with tagging issues, but I've been

Well worth looking into, and YES... determine a tagging strategy early
on and stick with it! It does make a difference.

I've recently downloaded a new 2-disc album. My practice with downloads
is to use MP3tag to take out all the tags I don't want and leave myself
with a consistent, fairly minimal set (Album, Artist, Genre, Title,
Track, Year for most; plus Discnumber for multi-disc sets). This album

I personally like to see art for each CD. If it's a 2cd set, I put this
in the album field:
White Album (CD1)
White Album (CD2)
If it 3 or more, I do:
Whatever (Disc 1)
Whatever (Disc 2)
Whatever (Disc 3)
Etc
I don't use disc tags of any type. Some people consider this a kludge
or ugly,

What I usually do these days is list the track numbers as if it was one
album. For example if CD1 has 12 tracks then the 1st track from CD2 is
13 etc.

I've been recently ripping and then processing some music with two CDs
in the set (most recently Martin Simpson's Rooted).
I use MP3 Tag to do the processing, and it allows me to specify a CD
sequence, e.g. 1 and 2 or 1/2 and 2/2. Unfortunately this appears to
