ntpd is pretty good, by default it will drift the time forwards or
backwards to keep it in synch rather than having a hard cut over (e.g. a
given set of seconds become slightly longer or shorter).
As such leap seconds etc usually take care of themselves.

How come wrong numbers are never busy?
I've always wondered but never asked, why is this driver proprietary? Is there
an issue about patent licensing?
