Upgrading from 2.19.3 to 3.0.1, I have an issue that has occurred
before, but somehow I had managed to get through. Now I'm stuck.
My jackd server runs as unprivileged user (like it normally should), but
Rivendell won't see it and connect to it unless I start a jackd (dummy
driver) insta
What surprises me is that I have always managed to get through this
until now.
What you are proposing could be acceptable, but I cannot start Jack from
RDAdmin, because at the time Rivendell suite starts, Jack is already
running, so that's unfortunately not an option. I'd like to get back to

To let Rivendell find jackd, jackd need to start under root user. To use jackd
also under rd user I connected the instance running under rd user trough
netjack to the main (root user)
All is working perfectly

That may be a work around, but now you have two instances of jack running,
seems like twice as likely for something to go wrong.

being just in the process of setting up a test machine with Rivendell
3.0.1 to maybe upgrade our station still running 2.5.1 (!), i've just
encountered this problem a few minutes ago.
My workaround so far has been to edit the
/lib/systemd/system/rivendell.service
by adding
User=rduser

That's exactly what I ended up with. It seems to be working with no
apparent side effect on one machine for now.
Note though that you might want to have an
/etc/systemd/system/rivendell.service file to override instead of
modifying the /lib/systemd/system/rivendell.service file that wil
