Hello, all
I read
http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/OndioBacklight
And here's my question:
Does rockbox actually can handle the backlight pin on the ondios? So is i worth
for us to do the modification?
Jörg H., do you run rockbox with light on your modded ondio?

(I must say the code lacks some comments, sometimes ;).
At the moment, I'm just looking round the sources trying to understand
them.
Would it be useful for people like myself to submit comment patches?
As I look round the code, I could add comments when I work out what
something does, and

We don't write Rockbox in order to welcome newcomers. We write Rockbox for the

Unfortunately most of the code I looked at had very little commenting. I
was a little surprised to find that even functions weren't documented as

Do not run (rolo) this archos stuff on your ondio box if you are running
rockbox.
Archos Firmware 1.32b
It includes a flasher without any sanity checks and without any questions.

Hi list,
Today I tried to enable REAL_LED on the X5L by editing
firmware/drivers/led.c and adding the needed pcf50606_write() to led() and
changing LED_CONFIG #define in firmware/export/config-iaudiox5.h
The effects of this were:
1. the red led lit up on boot
2. RB hanged at the boot screen
3.

Did you see anything burned/damaged ?
IMHO, if it continued to heat after a reset, it's because something
has gone wild (=damaged) before the reset.
Reconnecting the battery
No, prolly thanks to the ice;
I hope the HDD didn't suffer much (as it's adjacent to the bigger battery).
I believe the PCF50606 went berserk, but upon disconnecting it will reset
(when battery is connected the pcf never shuts down, it just stands by).
I'll watch it closely, though.
BTW, I

Check the wiki; it should be possible to salvage the unit with

Good news - I connected the battery wire and it boots OK.
I still have some screws to tighten, but it'll prolly survive.
Just don't try this at home.

Well, I think I'll toss my two cents in...
There have been a few occasions where I simply head to the Flyspray
bug reports page, pick out one that's rather simple, fix, and commit
it. I'm quite the opposite of a 'core dev' - I hardly know enough to
fix half the bugs on the tracker (especially
Ah, but the battery life issue on H300 is an actual major bug, most likely, rather than simply our software running less efficiently than it could. At least, that seems to be the current belief. So instead of an improvement, it's a real bug. People can still download the
3.0 source and compile

I agree, with the ability of anyone to close bug reports, you should be able to close them with a message like This should be fixed in CVS now. Open a new one if the bug still exists, with updated instructions on how to reproduce them with a new build.
