Thanks for your replies -- I still feel like all the solutions are suboptimal.
Another thing I thought about would be to test to set up a public sage
notebook server containing everything we need. Then we would not need
anything but a stable server and properly working internet access...

in 4.7.1 alpha3. Guys you are making an amazing job: we have been
recently merging a steady flow of 20-25 patches per Sage release!
