maurizio, you should perhaps get in touch with Nick Alexander about
your emacs issues. The instructions you pointed at are the ones which
worked for me straight away (on Aquamacs, but any recent emacs should
do).

sage-mode to work either -- it turned out that I had a not very new
version of emacs. (I'll try again soon). If you are editing .py
files then emacs's python mode works well enough, and you can also
tell emacs to treat
