Normaly if you can see services you should be able to see the perfmon counters too. Can you see the remote perfmon counters via the performance monitor (of NT/Win2K)? dirk. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Sat Nov

Viktor, I appreciate your concern, but I don't actually save the passwords in a batch file. One can provide rights via the scheduler service for scheduled events, so the password is stored in the registry. For unscheduled events, I'll use my own credentials. The pstools try to use the securit

Actually, psexec does require a client service... It just installs it for you (and removes it if closed properly). It also has a one connection to client limit. Use it daily and love it. Psservice is nice but sclist is faster at listing, and sc has more options (like changing start setting). Psinfo

Well... it's true, many of the *functions* are available in the resource kits, but I believe the execution is far superior in pstools and the features tend to be more advanced. For example, psexec will execute remote commands without installing anything on the host or remote machine, so there's no

One more thing. Psshutdown, part of pstools, is a lifesaver. You can remotely power down, reboot, lock, and log-off-current-user, all from a command line. When NT or 2000 locks up, it's often a keyboard/mouse/video driver or a misbehaving application. As long as network connectivity and the netl

pstools is a free suite of command-line tools for Windows NT/2000 from SysInternals (formerly NTInternals). SysInternals (www.sysinternals.com) has a wide range of free NT/2000 tools (some work with xp, some just NT, etc.), and the source code is available for most of them. They also have a licen

Viktor, I think that the perfmon is easier to program and is better on the NT security point of view as creating or even using the system shares exposes all those nasty NT security problems. I have got approx 50 Disk checks so far across a European sized WAN. Over such distances the Perfmon che
