Normaly if you can see services you should be able to see the perfmon
counters too.
Can you see the remote perfmon counters via the performance monitor (of
NT/Win2K)?

Dirk,
Yes I can see services. Are there any special options that I need to
enable on these?

I appreciate your concern, but I don't actually save the passwords in a

One can provide rights via the scheduler service for scheduled events, so
the password is stored in the registry.
For unscheduled events, I'll use my own credentials. The pstools try to use

Hello David,

Actually, psexec does require a client service... It just installs it

Well... it's true, many of the *functions* are available in the resource

features tend to be more advanced.
For example, psexec will execute remote commands without installing anything
on the host or remote machine, so there's no

I don't see anything in pstools that isn't available in ms resource
kits. Am I mistaken? Getting server mgmt freeware past security
always poses a problem in the enterprise.

One more thing. Psshutdown, part of pstools, is a lifesaver.
You can remotely power down, reboot, lock, and log-off-current-user, all
from a command line.
When NT or 2000 locks up, it's often a keyboard/mouse/video driver or a
misbehaving application. As long as network connectivity and the netl

Viktor,
I think that the perfmon is easier to program and is better on the NT
security point of view as creating or even using the system shares exposes
all those nasty NT security problems. I have got approx 50 Disk checks so
