I have turned on RRD logging. The Round trip looks good. For updown, it
seems no matter what I put in the subdirectory and press apply, it
becomes blank if I exit and go in to redisplay the screen again. But the
database file gets updated, which is weird. On the other hand, for check
result, all da
Thanks for the input. That worked. I had SNMP running on one machine and
not the other. As soon as I installed SNMP on the Server I couldn't
monitor, it worked. Thanks for the help.

Yes, we are talking about the UPS, just was unsure of what you meant. I
think I understand now.

Have you installed PowerChute Business Edition Server on both machines?
Do both machines have the Windows SNMP commponents installed and
running?
If the answer is yes, then no, try installing just the PowerChute
Bussiness Edition Agent on the one that currently cant' connect, then
adding that se
I think you're talking about your UPS?
I'm talking about 3 types of alerts that are currently supported by Servers
Alive, but in a none-threaded way. And we want to change that to a threaded
way.

I am not that familiair with SNPP, SMPP or XMPP, all that I know is its
currently running the APC PowerSuite Software, business edition. Don't know
if that helps or not. But as for testing a beta version of it. As long as
it won't affect the server, or cause it to crash or anything like that, I
If you're using SNPP or SMPP or XMPP for alerting and would be willing to beta
test the threaded version(s) of it, then please let me know (off-list)
The testing is not for now, but for in a couple of weeks.

Thanks for the help. Worked on one Server, which the UPS was connected with
a USB cable. The other, an old server, the UPS unit is connected with a
Serial(9pin) cable and that one gives and error when testing. Both are
running the same version of APC and run Windows 2000 Server.

The powernet mib from APC is pretty well documented. A good version is
here: http://support.ipmonitor.com/mibs/POWERNET-MIB/tree.aspx
You need to created SNMP checks for the specific OID that corresponds to
the item you want monitor. For example, the Remaining Runtime OID is
1.3.6.1.4.1.318.
This assumes that you have a network management card installed. If the
back of your UPS has a black metal plate with no markings, you need to
install a AP9617, AP9618 or AP9619 network amangement card.

Subject: [SA-list] Monitorin
I know this was talked about before, but forget what came of it. I would
like to monitor my APC UPS Units with ServersAlive. They are a SmartUPS1400
and SMartUPS 1500 models.
I have the standard v6 beta of SA.

I would go with the tags as they are not limited in number, self
describing, and would provide more flexibility.

Hello Dirk,
My 2 cents.
If this will work ok:

feel free...
Just make sure new names documented in help file.

If the Alert parameters were changed to case sensitive you could also
have A..Z
However if you are going for extensibility and already moving in the
direction of xml, custom html tags are probably the best solution.
