Does anyone have any experience monitoring exchange 2003 with
serversalive? I believe you would have to use snmp?

The problem with this method is that Servers Alive
service has to be stopped and restarted for it to pickup the new entries. I have
this all automated with the press of a single button through a web interface but
it wasn't straight forward and it isn't pretty but it works.

Not sure. I suppose I should have looked at the example first before asking
the question! I'll retract it for now until I have a chance to look at the
code!!
I'll let the 2nd question stand though to see if others have been developing
COM add-ons or not.

Yup, I just checked the IP 208.251.220.6. Its listed on a number of them so
likely going to be blocked by a number of anti-spam services.

I must have missed that.
I guess I'll ask the followup question then!! :)
Any plans for documentation for this in a future version? Has anyone else
written up their experience developing COM add-ons?

Is there any documentation on developing external COM checks? I've searched
the help file and online and can't seem to find any reference to developing
our own external COM checks. I can find stuff for the external errorlevel
development but not COM. Are we even able to do this or are the only COM
ng ODBC for this, I think it's a setting that is within the ODBC
applet of the control panel.
Dirk.

Is there a registry entry to change the timeout for database inserts for

If this is not possible is it being considered for the future? Perhaps an API to SA or
something??

this method just sets up a generic ping test or something. I'm setting
up all kinds of different tests including
external COM etc.

Is this normal or is there some way to have these interact together as one would

Just an observation, but you used
to have to have the SQL Enterprise Manager
loaded to have the network libraries for the SA SQL check to work correctly... I never saw this mentioned in any
of the emails.
