We are running a SA NT process check again

We are running a SA NT process check against a third party NT process on an XP
box. SA more often than not reports that the process is not running. If we
check the process, it is up.
Is there a thread about best practices for checking NT processes? Also, I

You can always configure the check to ignore the status on timeout:
Edit the Alert > When tab > Result based filtering > When the 'Extra info
Field' Should not contain ''timeout"
