I have an intermittent problem with a database program and the locking
mechanism therein. The program is called OPTO and is an older DOS program
that has been upgraded to run on any of the windows platforms. I should
mention that the entire program, each and every file, is located on the
server.
Yuo not write version of samba and kernel but by log error i mean that many
dist have kernel compile with slim limits of open files (1023) but samba
need or can open 1 files at a time...
I dont how many clients you have but try check when problem ocurs smbstatus
and how open files have you.

I've got a problem with WIN98 and SAMBA 2.2.2 on IRIX 6.5.16.
What appens is that connecting to a share I cannot see any file in the
share.
Also, sometimes the share has files in it (!!!) but when I try to copy

I've created a samba-2.2.7 package for Solaris 2.8.
Please test it first. I don't have a personal Solaris box
for software testing (only compiles). Details can be found at

I am trying to export a share to several Windows clients, that start some
application in a dos box. The application itself is located on the share. The
first client can start it, the second cannot. It looks like a locking problem,
but experiments with "locking = no" showed no effect. Th

Hi all
i can problem with browsing two separate workgroup on two routed networks.
First workgroup work on samba server with DMB and second on NT server as
workgroup TWO not domain.
On NT workgroup clients can browse all PC from all workgroup but on samba
net only samba workgroup.
I use wins on samb

which distro do you use?
i use virtual user, too. but you have to config your distro to use the
ldap-db for the user. if you make "getent passwd", your have also to
modify your file /etc/nsswitch.conf, it should look like this:
passwd: files ldap
shadow: compat
group: files ldap

place. Currently it is lying idle and we would like to utilize it.
Is it possible to put Samba on this machine and use it as a PDC using
