My guess is that your browser hosed it. You could always try to wget it
using the address you were trying to download previously. If you were
using a mozilla browser on some flavor of unix/linux, it's possible that
it is already gunzipped. Try installing directly with the file you have.

Which LDAP libraries are you using? Solaris has some built in ones that have been
known to cause problems. The Samba dox say that OpenLDAP libraries are preferred, so

I have a big problem with my samba 3.0.2a on debian. I use winbindd, which
seems to work (getent passwd/group and wbinfo -u works), and the net ads
join worked too, but the authentication with the AD controler, hosted on
