We have about 60 users and workstations.
Now I have to install a new server with RedHat ES 3 and samba3.
How can I port the domain to the new server, so that I don't have to add
every user and workstation again?

I'm getting this error in my /var/adm/messages and don't know what it
means, I suspect it is also responsible for causing the delays in the

Squid proxy server so it only runs nmbd and winbindd. When using Samba
3.0.2a wbinfo -r user returns all groups. However, after upgrading to
Samba 3.0.4 only a maximum of 32 groups are listed.

That was exactly the problem. Have gone around the client's network and
removed apostrophes and I now have a whole domain full of happy, if no
longer grammatically correct users :-)

that the machine-user-accounts under ou=Computers contain the
objectclass InetOrgPerson.
The accounts are automatically generated by smbldap-tools (from idealx)

You want to look into the winbind options. Winbind allows you to
authenticate users against an external server (say, a Windows or Samba
server).

I have found slightly odd behaviour in that wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g only
return the actual usernames and groups rather than "DOMAIN+Username" and
"DOMAIN+Groupname".
So in my smb.conf file I needed:-
valid users = @Groupname
without the DOMAIN+ par

samba server. And this shouldn't explain the reason why a user with
