I have installed samba 3.0.3-5 on fedora core2, my problem is with winXP
when i try to access one of the share the window prompt a username and password, but i
cannot change the username it always servername/guest.
is this a windows problem or samba one.
i tried enabling encrypt

for my NTConfig.POL to deploy the value ( ip ) from my ntp server

NTFS for being best compatibel unless you have special reason to
change it ( which i never heard from )

permissions to any file or folder,
so first make clear that the wanted permission are able
to your native nix systems.

I would implement a domain if you have 75 users. 3-5
then no, but if you have been using NDS you are going to
want more control over that many users, i.e. central
logins, and even profile policies if you have to support

I am experiencing a problem accessing a SAMBA share from a Windows 2000 SP4 server.
We have a Service on the Windows 2000 Server, which processes a number of database
queries and prepares a file. It then copies this file to a SAMBA share using the UNC
convention
Samba 3.0.5 on Unix. I can map to the share but Access is denied. I've configured the
share so this would not happen. Any ideas?

Dear all,
I have been upgrade from samba 3.0.2a-1 to samba 3.0.5-2, login to samba from windows
client ok, but the sharing printer was not working, also the file sharing, it looks
like windows give the error the sharing cannot be found.
To solve this i return back to 3.0.2a-1, and everything

Correct, my thanks for the diagnosis, the new openldap in Fedora Core
overwrote my old config, and I forgot this step of the configuration.

This started happening to me as of 3.0.4, and I never found a solution.
Now I'm trying to mount via cifs, but getting missing or invalid
