Thanks for confirming this. Leave it to Microsoft for they great
understanding of network services. I also searched around and found a
workaround to stop the messages. Which is to use iptables and create a
rule to reject connections to either port 139 or 445. I choose 445.

Thanks for the response. Are you sure this is right? None of the docs I
have read mention smbpasswd and I was under the impression that the
samba on osX uses the system account passwords to authenticate. There is
no /etc/samba/smbpasswd but there is a /private/var/db/samba/smbpasswd

printer. It would be funny except it is happening to me

case I vampired the old settings over to my new Samba PDC from a W2K

Everything is fine, but the user group memberships aren't restored.
Only alle primary group member ships are restored. every user is in
the primgrp (4126 Users). All Groups (2659) are restored including sids.
but no mem
