I have samba PDC (3.0.21) with openldap 2.2.13 on Redhat Enterprise Linux 4.
All my windows clients (2000 Professional, and xp) .
Using pdbedit we can set policies, we have made passwords to be 8 characters
and password history to be 4,
is there any way we can add password complexity , ie

running Windows 2000 Advanced Server SP4 to a file server running Gentoo
Linux 2005.1 and Samba-3.0.14a compiled with acl, winbind, Kerberos and

When I log in with ssh and type the command id on aix system, I get
just a little information:
uid=10(mylogin) gid=10(domain users)
If I login in as a local unix account and su to mylogin, id shows me a
lot more information:
uid=10(u785755) gid=10(domain users) groups

to it. The /data directory is not under / but a separate partition. I

Is there a recipe or a howto for migrating a TDBSAM to and LDAPSAM on the
same machine without losing user information. I've tried the idealx Howto
and the Samba Howto, both cause loss of profiles/passwords/etc.

group. They ( security ) frown on us running our own !

Hmmm - define "better" :-). SETGID works at the directory granularity,
any "inherit group" parameter I might add would only be at the share

When i run "nmblookup -U dspsvr -R dspwg#1b" i get the following:
querying dspwg on 192.168.1.10
192.168.1.10 dspwg<1b>
192.168.1.15 dspwg<1b>
192.168.1.18 dspwg<1b>
The correct 1b server is at 192.168.1.10. I do not know how the other two
entries show up here.
192.168.1.15 is just a WinXP Pro c

a. net groupmap modify ntgroup="Domain Admins" unixgroup=root
b. net groupmap modify ntgroup="Domain Users" unixgroup=users
Why are they made to the wrong SID?
