I have been trying to setup a new print server on Fedora 12 based around
samba-3.4.7-58.fc12.x86_64 and cups-1.4.2-28.fc12.x86_64. All looks
good except for the ability for printer administrators to manage
printers. Whether I specify users in a system group using the
deprecated printer admin
ommand = /usr/local/bin/smbdelprinter.pl
Whether or not this amount of log activity is related, is this normal?
Also, has anyone else seen anything like this? Current workaround is
hourly restarts of both daemons in cron.
Thanks very much.

Download the samba source and check out
the /examples/scripts/printing/cups directory for some EXTREMELY
skeletal examples of these scripts. :)

One final question... the deleteprinter command is correctly deleting
the underlying CUPS queue and Samba is receiving a SIGHUP. But, the
printer still shows in Samba until I restart the daemon. Bug?

As you can see this is not terribly elegant. I would feel more
comfortable if it were not for the fact that we have a large printer
base and our Helpdesk is always adding printers.
Any suggestions?

The addprinter command (would have helped if I mentioned that, huh?). I
find I am constantly fighting the dreaded Access Denied Errors. The
script I have that worked previously in a source install environment

I am trying to write a decent little Perl script for a Samba 3.0.9
system on FC3, all installed from RPM. I know from my past experience
and from what I have seen on the web that doing this for Samba and CUPS
is tricky to say the least. Previously, I had some Perl scripts that

I also tried an 8.3 printername: testtest.tst,
which resulted in a ppdof testtest.tst.ppd. Same problems as before...no
download but limitedprinting with adobe drivers.
Thank you.
