I experienced problemen with loggin's because some programs
badly closes the registry, of a old connection with samba stays
is running.

I also have pst file from my users on the home dir.
My pst files vary from 100 Mb to 4 GB ! and we dont have any problems
but beware this is with outlook 2003, outlook xp or 2000 have a 2 GB limit
on the pst files.

- The profile *was* downloaded to the local machine, and all the files
were present, but it acted as if the registry somehow

You can find the nessesary templates in the samba list.
there's a link 2 a packages with howto examples policy templates
etc.

I have the same config as you.
I'am running 20 print queues with 60 users.
on a P3-866 , 512MB Ram with Scsi-U320 Raid 1 with 2 15K rpm drives
and 1Gb nic. And its fast, the drives make up for the low CPU.
Our company prints about 150.000 prints a month, so lots of printing.
We have low
search the list, there is a complete package available
with poledit usrmgr srvmgr some policy templates

Hi, I just found out i have the same problem.
i also notised, when you logoff from Workstation A
then login on workstation B, the logon takes ages.
and the userprofile is not kopies from the server.

This is not a question of seeing the other pc.
if the pc's dont have file/printer sharing installed
you wil NEVER see the other pc, bij network browsing.
Are you able to ping to the other pc, first by IP
then try it bij HOSTNAME
if hostname does not work, its a wins/dns problem.

first i think subscription is good, but somethings you get overloaded
with emails.. ( example today i got 816 emails ) ( with 8 spam mails )
but this make not the difference.
second subscription is bad, less pleople wil check the mailling list,
and then less solutions/problems are notised.
dont have all attrs in ldap defined, only the one i use.
