IIRC you can use rpcclient for that. Not sure th

So, I'm in the process of transitioning our NT domain controllers over to
Samba. I've never tried to get Samba to act as a full PDC before, so this is
new territory for me. We still have a number of NT servers (not DC's) that
have various directories owned by various NT groups a

order to assign more than one user/group permissions you need to have EA/ACL's
enabled on the kernel and have Samba compiled with them enabled as
well. You won't be able to be as granular with the permissions as
NT, you are still limited to r-w-x permission bits.

slowness, but I don't know that it's attributed to Samba (atleast in our

I am using the PVCS application for the version
control and this is in turn stored onto the unix
system. We map it onto the windows using samba and use
the same.
my concern is when i use the pvcs , the
(print02p is the instance name). At that point I started seeing output from
gdb. Below is the output.

I'm having a problem authenticating to my Samba server. I'm NOT using
winbind, and I have setup local users in the smbpasswd file. My w2k
workstation works as I would expect and when I connect I see the following

I have setup a basic samba configuration without winbind, using
security=user. I have a usermap file that maps everyone to the user ftp. I
can see the username being changed to ftp and the user being allowed access.

Has anyone had any luck adding machine accounts from w2k to a samba 3.0
pdc? I posted the issue last week, as I noticed others were encountering
the same problem. The weird thing is I had it working on a box before.
But this time I'm using pam_ldap to avoid local unix accounts, and it

I just noticed that when I try to add a machine, its acctflags get set to
[DW ]. Also pwdmustchange seems to get cut in half as well. What
would cause samba to make these changes? If the add machine script runs

I got the login to work now, but I think I may have founda bug. When the
script added the machine account it gave it an RID of 3002, but when samba
goes looking for it it searches for RID 501. I modified the RID to 501 in

Please tell me if I'm posting to the wrong list. I looked for the list called

seemed a more appropriate forum, but it looks like that list has been
dissolved. Has the discussion for that list moved to

Some time ago (24 September 2002), I wrote the list about this problem with
using a WinXP Pro client with a Samba PDC (see below for details).
In response, Kenneth Illingsworth (if I understood him correctly) suggested
that the error message given by the Win XP client just might be
://pdc.domain.com
This works as does the backup domain controller. If I put both entries
in, nothing works... testparm shows no errors and samba appears to work
correctly until you try to authenticate. In debug mode, the error
