I've got a share where I needed the permissions to be 770 and I think an Apple
Mac computer is connecting to a Samba share and changing the permissions each
day.
At the end of the day, I'll set permissions to:
root@backblaze02:/share1/QuinceCt/.TemporaryItems# ls -la
total 12
drwxrwx--- 3 j
I set the debug level to 5.
This log file shows the error 64, with "send unencrypted passwords to 3rd
party servers" Enabled; (See attached file: winerr64.100212).
This log file shows the error 1240, with "send unencrypted passwords to
3rd party servers" Disabled; (See attached file: winerr12
; (error 1240).
I then switched "Send unencrypted password to third-party SMB servers" back
to "Enabled" which Microsoft recommends for error 1240 and I get the old
error 64.
Searching for other configuration possibilities for the error 1240.

This is the same symptom I had before reverting back to the Sun

The server is running fedora core 5 with the following samba rpms:
samba-common-3.0.23c-1.fc5
samba-3.0.23c-1.fc5
system-config-samba-1.2.34-1
samba-client-3.0.23c-1.fc5
The smb.conf follows:
[global]
workgroup = PEG
;force user = nobody" works.
I saw an earlier bug report about a segfault when a domain was used with
"force user", but that seemed unrelated.
Thanks!

Is this still an open problem for non AD domains, or have I missed
something obvious (not that that ever happens to me...)?
Thanks!

I read here:
http://www.kbalertz.com/837327/receive.system.cannot.change.password.because.domain.error.message.change.password.Windows.Windows.aspx
that this bug is due to a bug in Windows. I upgraded to service pack 4,
and the bug was fixed.

Hello. I am using Samba 3.0.22 with LDAP. When a user's password
expires they are asked to change it by Windows 2000.
Upon completing the pw change dialog box, after a brief pause, I get an
error stating "The system cannot change your password now because the
domain MYGROUP is not available.
Greetings - I have encountered some errors installing (attempting to
install)
Samba on an Alphaserver VMS7.3-2. Have tried including the suggested
modules to suppress the link-errors, but no luck.
Has anyone got SAMBA running in this environment?
Thanks in advance.

Hey List,
I need just a bit of help. I'm stuck on my integration of a samba server
into an ADS domain. I've read(and re-read) the entire Samba How-To as
well as several other articles on the net.
Here is what I need to do: Have a share set up so that windows users can
browse to it via Win Ex
will probably return even with the
upgrade, but it does address some other issues I've been having in 3.0.21c.
I guess now I am in wait and see mode.
I will ask Veritas about something similar to the GPFS locking parameter you
mentioned.
Thanks,

Jeremy,
I was in a position (last night) to upgrade to 3.0.23a.
Again, I was using 3.0.21c.
If smbd goes into the D state, we can at least eliminate the possibility
that it is an unexpected 3.0.21c bug.
Thanks,
