), so maybe that doesn't really matter.
Current versions of most distros also default to xfs, so it's also
keeping up with the Joneses from a compatability standpoint.

rs were a thing when I want to see what even older
experiments might have to say about something :) (Even if they were
would probably have to cross my fingers and hope old 8mm tapes still
worked to get to the software, though.)

Also worth noting that on Fedora, upgrades in place via the repository
(it's a simple dnf plugin) work great, and has for a while.
So, to the extent that Fedora developments often get rolled into RHEL
once they mature, that's also a good sign.

Certainly, this was true of previous CentOS's.

fact on a
verify. The procedure which served me well for many 6.x upgrades needs
one more tweak for 7.x upgrades!
Is this expected behavior, or is there somethign to be tweaked with the
sl-release rpm (or its scripts)?
thanks!

Just saw this too.
I tried:
yum remove libgpod
which took with it (for me) only Rhythmbox, which I don't use anyway.
The update then went cleanly.
If you use Rhythmbox, or have other libgpod dependancies, your mileage
may vary :)
