Score one more for the demise of quality shows on TV... :(
I wonder what it's like in the mirror universe? You know, that alternate
reality where "Jericho", "John Doe", "Dresden Files" and "Frank's Place" are
still on TV, and "American Idol" is synonymous with bad quality?
Nuts is right. At least the show is going out on a high note. This is the

In that version of reality, I would be afraid because Simon Cowell
would actually know something about music.
I often make note of performers I hear on the radio or CD that would
not make the cut on Idol. This always makes me giggle. Mr. Dylan your
singing is lousy. You will not be going o

What puzzles me about shows like "Jericho" is that, with the ongoing
fragmentation of the viewing audience, it seems some network would be
interested in audience of 5.8 million a week.

They didn't suck but they were incredibly average. But I am glad this
crew didn't get a chance to neuter the Black Panther.

I don't know if there are any authors that quite rank that high but
there is plenty of good thought provoking sf still being written.
A few hard sf authors I have read enjoyed in the last few years:
Peter Watts
Richard Paul Russo
Charles Pellegrino and George Zebrowski
Richard Morgan
Of course
my wife and i play that game too: "Miss Franklin, you have an okay voice, but
you're a bit too loud. And you're too dark: they like Beyonce and Rhianna on
their album covers. And--can you drop some weight?"...
Jennifer Hudson is a star now--at least in that one movie--and Simon Cowell was

That's it exactly. I'd pay money to see a dramatic portrayal of a Sly
