Hey All,
On the hunt for old hardware again - for a project I'm doing. My old
3com card is dead, and it also seems my Xircom Parallel-to-RJ45
transceiver is dead too. What a blow.
If anyone out there has an old 8 bit ISA network card that I can fairly
easily get working with MS-DOS (eg, Packet D
Hi ,
I wouldn't discount IBM totally - the plant in Greenock is still open
AFAIK,
it just works on a far smaller scale. They have tons of office space, some
rented out, some just lying bare (great use for a function). They make
bladeservers and such out there currently and have a call

The 8088 was the 16 bit chip, indeed, but it had an 8 bit adress bus.
The 8086 was superior to the '88 because it was a true 16bit cpu,
incorporating a 16bit address bus. The 8087 complements it to provide real
(floating point) calculations.

I would love to come along if that's ok with you. Can I bring you along
anything - a few beers? Burgers? etc
Cheers,

I think so, having come from Edinburgh's EdLUG which is far less formal
(but less fun as a result), I like the fact that scotlug has a good mix of
real linux/foss stuff and
