Jussi, It was a fresh install. That machine had never had scratchbox before, as I am just starting to get involved with it. There is another developer here experiencing the same problem, but he is doing an upgrade from 1.0.5. His synaptic hangs in the same preconfig stage, and I'm pretty s

Are you doing a fresh install or upgrading from a previous version? If you are upgrading from a previous version, you could try purging the previous one and install fresh. I tried in Etch and had no problem upgrading my pre-r3 version of Scratchbox (the system was up to date according my local Etc
