Can you give us a little more information, like: what's the OS? There are multiple

silly question maybe but how do you know your yahoo account has been
accessed? What proof do you have? Or is this just a trap to get people to
try and get into your account? Maybe I'm being cynical here but...
I suggest you have a look at www.netsaint.org
It allows for ping-ing, service checks, etc...
Very configurable and robust...

If Java Script is being allowed to run on the machine this could be done
very easily. You can easily re-write the IE navigation bar in java
script allowing the server you are currently hitting to proxy every new
request you would make. I did some work with a company that did this

I've heard good things about Servers Alive. Our techs use it to monitor the systems

Or better yet, just make use of one of the many free hit counters on the

I use Big Brother (http://www.bb4.com/). I haven't had any problems except
the occassional false alarm... But with a bit of fine-tuning you can easily
get around that issue.

You might want to look at something like OpenBSD for your Firewall. Its
pretty secure, and pretty simple to use. Also, any Unix-based OS will handle
routing out of the box. I think Windows offers something, but I'm not very
familiary with Windows.
For the Virus software, I've got Norton installed

We've done some nice things with Big Brother and Big Sister (Big Brother
clone). Big Brother has a commercial licensing requirement, but I believe
Big Sister is free. They are web-based, and pretty configurable.
