OK guys, I got the car on the road for all of a hundred miles, if not
less (somewhere around mid 90's), and there was bearing noise, loud
noise.
The mechanic took it apart. What he found was that all four rod bearings
are crushed... Worn through to the copper on the top bearing half. He
indicated
Get a scan tool and monitor the knock sensor. The A/F will help you
quantify any changes made and to back up the knock sensor.
The formula for calculating static compression ratio is available

First off Jason, sorry to hear about the problem, I know it's frustrating.
I'm no pro as I've only rebuilt 1 engine in my life but I have to say that I
don't think detonation will do that to the rod bearings - it usually drills
holes in pistons first. Also, when you say crushed, do you mean worn?
Hey Jason,
Don't feel bad, CHANGE MACHINE SHOPS! 150 psi is about right on for
compression testing these engines. My new rebuild is ranging at 135 to 145 -
rings still aren't seated yet due to a bad computer dumping too much gas
through and washing them down. If he doesn't even know what the
Did he check the rod torque when tearing down the engine??
I did change engine builders after my rods started knocking after about
100 miles. I found the first builder had overtorqued the rods. Upon
approaching him, his response was, 'you were there when I did it' ...
And I said, 'but you got

the fact that most were

Another thing came to mind. Are you sure that oversized bearings weren't
used, or the crank is undersized...

A friend of mine pointed out somebody in Arizona is selling a pretty rare
selection of 2.2 performance engine parts ending on eBay in another few
hours. These are vintage MP parts developed for the IMSA racing program.
