Re: SD> Rarity of '92 Shelby/IROC 2.5 Turbo I cars

2008-01-05 Thread Paul T. Standaert
These cars definitely do exist. From what I found, in 1991 the IROC and Shelby differed only by their powertrain. The IROCs were V-6 cars and had the 16" pumper wheels on it. That means they had CS centercaps, so the Shelby logo AND IROC logo were on the same cars in 1991 as well. But seeing th

I strongly agree with Bob on the TBI gas mileage. I've had a few over the years and they'd suck gas to beat hell. My Turbos would consistently get four mpg better and have 50% more power. On a road trip with steady speeds under 60 mph and such, the TBI could get some good mileage. But unless yo

I agree with about only two cars on there. The Aztek and that Citroen thing. Its all a matter of opinion, but put the darn VW beetle and the VW new beetle on there! What about the AMC Eagle? So what? All station wagons from the 80's looked like that. Its just a typical 80's looking car. And

I am no Shelby Dakota expert by any means, but I agree that it is a Shelby clone vehicle. The VIN matches a 3.9L powerplant. I wonder if the rest of the body panels had VIN stickers on them?? But, the weird thing is the emissions label showing a 5.9L engine. Thats weird. Dakotas never came wit

Actually, every 782 casting head I had apart had oil squirters in the cam caps. Of course, they were later models and had roller cams and followers. Some years did not have them, but all mine did. I haven't had one of these engines apart for a few years now--I honestly haven't paid much attentio

Nine years ago (approximately) I designed a rear brace for a G-body. Although quite crude since my fabrication skills and equipment were not so good, the design had great potential. The design bolted to where the rear seat latch striker bolts to and runs behind the rear seat backs and to the ot

Sadly, none of the turbo Chrysler cars are of much value. The only ones I would pay substantial amount of $$$ for is one that is really rare and/or very well preserved and/or has undergone extensive rennovation. They have almost all been molested. If they don't already have major expensive-to-fi

I have venolia pistons in my 2.5L with .007" clearance, so I have that noisy diesel engine effect, too. Though most noticeable at idle, the noise doesn't go away all the sudden, but yes, it does go away somewhat with higher RPM. On mine, 3000 seems to be where its at. __

I had this problem just last year. It made a horrendous racket when I'd push the clutch pedal down, and when I released the clutch, it was quiet. But once the engine was warmed up, it would never make any noise. It just goes to show how much .002" of crankshaft endplay can make a difference and

$175 is insulting. Seriously. A complete rust-free GLH for $500 is as good as it gets for a poor person's hot rod. I can open the local newspaper right now and find advertisments in the "vehicles wanted" section and they'll give $250 cash for junk cars as is and they come to pick it up.

Does it do it on hot starts or cold starts or both? If its cold starts only, I'd suspect ignition components. Drench them with water and note any difference and drench them when the engine is warm, too. Wetting the ignition components should have zero effect on how it runs. If it does, there

I am willing to bet that the CHECK GAGES light only comes on at idle--more specifically, hot idle. Just touch the gas and it'll go out. If so, the oil pressure sending unit is on the fritz. They're leaking and the weather tight electrical connector seal actually holds in the leakage and resul
