Damian,
Part of me likes that idea, part of me worries that is an engineer seeing
something cool and solving a problem the customer doesn't have. Both of me
is probably wrong; I'd suggest using some fake doors[1] to test whether
people are interested in it (like a checkbox on the upload which says
Have you thought about allowing the recipients to start downloading
while the file is uploading? Sites like http://ge.tt do this.
I would think that they have to customise the HTTP server to allow it
to send out the bytes from the stream as it is uploaded. Either that
or chunk it.

LOL Yep, I was tempted to comment that it is a bit harder than 5 min worth
of "Meet at pub X at time Y" Even a simple event is harder to organise than
that, but an event where you are trying to bring two different groups of
people together to exchange ideas and get along etc. Doesn't strike me as

We're actually looking at expanding the event to Melbourne very soon, just
need to get the model right in Sydney first. And we even have some people
flying up FROM Melbourne, just to attend the event.
I can also say too - while it looks easy pulling an event together, it

Theoretically, someone motivated in Melbourne could also nominate a time
and place for co-founder speed dating.
Meet at Pub X at date and time Y...
Takes <5 mins of organization work, until the actual event... :)
It just depends on whether you can attract enough business co-founders to

Thank Rai, I'm in Melbourne (which seems to be the wrong place for
tech startups at the moment) but appreciate the link.

About two weeks ago I asked here on SBA whether anyone was able to
help me out by giving me an intro to a band manager who'd be willing
to have a chat about the music industry.
Yesterday I was able to line up 3 meetings with people in the
industry, each of whom had unique and valuable experiences
I agree with Elias. If your a tech company you need some sort of a
presence in Silicon Valley. But I think the biggest value you will
gain is access to quality software engineering talent. There is plenty
here, both good and bad, but the good you do come across are long time

I'm a Hacker Dojo member (and an Aussie from Sydney) and can tell you
that Hacker Dojo at $100/month is a bloody unbeatable value.
There are plenty of monitors laying around at the Dojo for use
including plenty of wide screen ones. There are heaps of desks & new

Hi Alwin,
Thanks for the feedback.
The app essentially replaces a work flow process of:
Create files that are too big to email
Open an an email client, attach the files and send the email
A little while latter, a bounce will come back saying mailbox full
Upload files to a FTP server

Hi Dan,
This looks like a really promising app.
Does this system replace an already existing email interface such as gmail
or Outlook (tsk tsk tsk)? Or is it built for integration via plugins etc?

Hey all,
After a stupendous amount of work we're getting ready to officially launch
our app and switch to a paid system. Up until this point we've been
working off word of mouth to get people using and testing our app, which
has worked out pretty well (we started with roughly 200 friends
