I agree with Elias. If your a tech company you need some sort of a
presence in Silicon Valley. But I think the biggest value you will
gain is access to quality software engineering talent. There is plenty
here, both good and bad, but the good you do come across are long time
keepers. People you see yourself working with.

I also believe the likes of community places like StartUp House,
Hacker Dojo etc... encourage folks to come together, share ideas and
build something. In Australia this is rarer. I remember sitting in my
Wollstonecraft place on the weekends coding away while my mates were
at the beach or the pub. Here most are out at a community hacking
away, sharing ideas at a meetup or talking start up mode. The hackers
culture thrives here. Therefore having local presence in Silicon
Valley allows you to tap into it, live it & breath it.
