Thanks for the advice all. I took a teaspoon-sized sip of the slighly yellowish brew and my stomach is not happy with me. Some cloves and lots of water settled things down a bit. Evidently I either need to adjust dosing or get some better distilled water. I haven't seen gastrointestinal upset

I do happen to be a bit sick (the powerful antioxidants of the cloves have been helping, as has garlic), but this reaction is characteristic of I just put something in me I shouldn't have. Nothing at all like the reaction I get after a few cloves and a few cloves of garlic! Even a shot at H202
