Silvia is dead on, I make a lot of iodine, it is composed of potassium iodide and iodide salt. Normally mixed half iodide, and 2x potassium iodide. It is the amount of iodide that your iodine contains that burns the skin and causes it to peel like a sunburn. Iodide is very unstable and will suck up
